Environmental Lead
If I’m not surrounded with rocks I am generally not happy – that was the general motivation for doing a BSc in Geology and Geography and then completing an MSc in Disaster Management, researching specifically risk perception to volcanic risks in Napoli. I have since spent the last 2 years working with the Ministry of Defence as an Environmental Advisor on a range of projects and activities.
Due to a passion in aiding communities understand their environment and adapt and mitigate its effect on them, I was propelled to co-start this Organisation. I hope to continue to drive forward environmental education to at-risk communities and also hope to see many more rocks!
Logistics Manager
Throughout University I had a passion to make a difference to vulnerable communities affected by the hazards around them. This was first realised whilst on a volunteer placement in South Africa helping children who had lost their family through AIDs.
Since leaving University, I have worked in Emergency Planning which involves me training response staff and educating the public on how to prepare for emergencies. Outside of work, I like to think I am an energetic person who can tackle anything thrown my way. I am also an amateur photographer and try to be as creative as I can within the rest of my life.
Humanitarian Lead
Following my BA in Philosophy, my main interests have focussed around people and cultures. I developed a goal for myself soon after my first trip around the world to find a way to assist others to improve their own individual and cultural development wherever possible. My masters degree in Disaster Management was a step in that direction and enabled me to meet my partners Vanessa and Amanda and I hope HazAware will help me to reach the goals I have set for myself.
My working life has focussed largely on project development for a private SME for almost 5 years as well as running my own small business for the past 4 years and now this varied work includes an internship for an international development charity for renewable technology.
